Dr. Terry Farrelly (PsiQuantum)
Abstract:
The race is on to build a quantum computer, and there are many different architectures being pursued to build one, most of which use matter qubits (e.g., trapped ions). At PsiQuantum our approach is to instead use photons to encode information in our quantum computer. And at the heart of our approach are fault-tolerant complexes, which allow us to encode information in a way that's resilient to errors.
Bio:
Terry Farrelly is a senior quantum architect at PsiQuantum, a quantum computing startup in Palo Alto. Terry comes from Ireland, where he did his undergrad studies in theoretical physics, followed by a PhD in theoretical physics in Cambridge. After brief stints as a post doc in Hannover, Germany and Brisbane, Australia, Terry joined PsiQuantum to research error correction and fault tolerance.
